Residential

Built in the 1850’s, this job has the most interesting past as all old buildings do. The sand stone blocks were hand quaried by convicts using the land behind the building. The detail in these stone blocks was extremely intricate and delicate. The boys had the task to getting gyprock up between the original exposed beams and not touch the stone which was extremely tight and time consuming. All sheets were cut down and all joints set extra wide.
Ground floor and 1st floor was “shop into residence”. All ceilings were suspended with acoustic tubber mounted clips and triple layer fire check. Finish was P50 to the extremely uneven/level sandstone.

After 1st layer of fire check was installed fire mastic was run amount the entire perimeter of attachment then 2nd layer of 16mm fire check was installed. Picture rail systems into frame work around 2 walls of every room then black sikaflex around perimeter (run carefully into sandstone without smudging or damaging the original stonework.

It took 2 weeks to do this tedious part of the project. Finally, the 3rd layer of fire check was installed with stop bead to the perimeter balanced out from the furthest point of the sandstone to create P50. This was one of the most difficult parts of the job.

Moving upstairs 1st and 3rd floor was extremely modern and brought in a real wow factor.

How we managed to mix heritage with industrial modern was worth the time spent getting this job looking like a dream dwelling.
